Why are my calls failing?
Just like when calling from a regular phone, there are instances when a call placed through Phonevite does not complete successfully as planned.
In some cases, there is a network/carrier issue when the calls are broadcast out (e.g. carrier network congestion). In most cases, we recommend retrying sending the message/calls at a later time.
Here is a partial list of potential reasons for call failure and recommendations, when applicable:
- Invalid # - Please check the number. It may be a number that was entered incorrectly, that doesn't exist or that has been disconnected.
- No Balance - There were no sufficient funds to complete the call. Add funds to your account and retry
- Busy - Busy signal. Retry call later.
- No Answer - No one or no voicemail system is picking up on the other end, or the recipient's equipment or network is not connecting the call, possibly because of a call filtering solution placed on the equipment or network system.
- Cancelled - The call has been cancelled prior to initiation. If a call cannot/does not go through after 2 hours of original request or schedule (usually because of a large volume of calls), it is automatically cancelled (as a precaution).
- Blocked - The recipient has placed a Do-Not-Call request. If accidental block, confirm with your recipient and remove the block from your Phone Book.
- Failed - A problem with the network/carriers, or no channels/circuits are available to complete the call. Try again later.
There are many potential causes for unsuccessful calls.
Increasingly, phone carriers and phone device manufacturers are also collecting data and developing algorithms to reduce unsolicited calls and potential scam calls. However, these processes are not perfect and so legitimate calls end up being mislabelled too.
We suspect that phone numbers have a higher likelihood of being mislabelled if several recipients report the call they receive as a junk call through their phone device.
To reduce the likelihood of your number being mislabelled as "scam likely" (or similar message), please make sure that calls are made to phone numbers that have an established relationship with you, that there is prior consent for these calls, and that the messages you send are relevant to the recipient. In addition, we recommend that the calls be spread over a period of time (e.g. you can use the "Call Spread" feature under the Options in the Send Phonevite page).
